Abstract FAQ
What are late breaking abstracts?
Late breaking abstracts are for those submitters who miss the regular submission period. These submissions are only offered the opportunity to present as a poster. Authors of late breaking abstracts are not eligible to apply for IMMUNOLOGY2024™ travel grants or awards.
What is the Late-Breaking Abstract submission deadline?
11:59 PM ET, January 23, 2024. All abstract-related deadlines are at the top of this page.
Who can I contact for technical support with the submission site?
For technical support with the submission site, please email meetings@aai.org.
What is the abstract submission fee?
The fee for AAI members (paid through December 31, 2024) is $110. The nonmember fee is $160.
How long can my abstract be? Can I include images?
Your abstract title is limited to 200 characters. Your abstract body is limited to 1,500 characters, including spaces.. Title and authors do not count against the 1,500-character limit.
No figures, charts or images can be included.
May I include case reports?
AAI does accept abstracts regarding case reports as long as they involve an aspect of immunology. Please refer to our Abstract Topic Categories page for areas of interest.
How many authors may I include?
The number of authors can not exceed 20. Please note that the submitting author is automatically both the first author and the presenting author.
How many abstracts can I submit?
There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author can submit. Do not send multiple submissions of the same abstract; duplicate abstracts will be rejected.
Can I revise my abstract?
Revisions to your submission can be made before the submission deadline of 11:59 PM ET, January 23, 2024. No edits will be accepted after then.
To make changes to your abstract prior to the deadline, you must log into our abstract submission platform and edit there. You will or will not receive a new confirmation email.
Can I add an author or remove an author from my abstract?
You cannot change the FIRST AUTHOR (the submitter). Authors can be changed by the submitter before the submission deadline of 11:59 PM ET, January 23, 2024 by going back into the submission record.
Is my submission complete?
Your submission is complete when you select “Submit” at the end of the abstract submission process. You will also receive an email with your abstract number and a link to review your submission. Submissions with Status: INCOMPLETE” will not be processed.
When and how will I know if my abstract is accepted?
Abstract acceptance notices will be sent first week of March via e-mail to the presenting author only. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to notify and ensure that all co-authors are informed that the abstract has either been accepted or rejected, and to disseminate the presentation scheduling information. If your abstract is accepted, you will receive guidelines for preparing poster and podium presentations.
Should I register for IMMUNOLOGY2024™ to present my abstract?
Yes, all abstract presenters must register to attend IMMUNOLOGY2024™. Visit the IMMUNOLOGY2024™ Registration page.
Can I request my abstract be presented on a certain day or time?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate date/time presentation requests. We will however be respectful of those requests due to religious requirements.
When can I get into the Poster Hall to set up my poster? When must I remove my poster?
Presenters are to place their posters in their assigned space between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM on their scheduled day. On Saturday and Sunday, posters must be removed between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM. On Monday, posters must be removed between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. Posters not removed will be discarded.
Where can I find the Embargo and Copyright information?
You can review the Embargo and Copyright policy on the IMMUNOLOGY2024™ Abstract Policies and Procedures page.
How do I cite an IMMUNOLOGY2024™ abstract?
The following is the suggested style for citing an IMMUNOLOGY2024™ abstract:
After abstract has been accepted but before it is published in The Journal of Immunology:
