Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri, USA
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Melissa Mavers in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Our lab seeks to enhance the understanding of the role of immunosuppressive cells in graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and aims to develop cellular therapies for GVHD using a bench-to-bedside approach. We are investigating human and murine invariant natural killer T cells in GVHD, which show particular promise as a therapeutic. In this position, the candidate will take ownership and drive their research project(s) forward through well-designed experimentation and data interpretation. The candidate will have the opportunity to engage in research using advanced immunologic techniques, including murine and xenogeneic models, transgene delivery and/or gene editing, immunologic assays, and single-cell transcriptomics and proteomics. The Mavers Lab fosters a collaborative and supportive environment for post-doctoral associates to grow in their scientific acumen and professional repertoire, as well as career mentorship and sponsorship.
Successful applicants must have a PhD or an MD with extensive wet lab research experience. A substantial background in implementing immunological assays with readouts such as high multiparameter flow cytometry is strongly preferred. Previous experience with murine models, pre-clinical GVHD models, or experience with lentiviral transduction/CRISPR will be considered an advantage.
