POSTDOCTORAL POSITION in Immune mechanisms in Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) The McNamara lab in the Beirne Carter Center for Immunology Research (CIC) at the University of Virginia is seeking a bright, motivated individual to join our NIH-funded research group to study the role of tick-induced IgE to agal in heart artery disease. We have shown that humans with IgE to agal have increased coronary artery plaque volume and features of plaque instability as measured by intravascular ultrasound .  Follow on studies using CITEseq on B cells from humans with IgE to agal have implicated novel immune pathways that may be mediating this effect.  The project utilizes unique mouse models, single cell and gene expression analysis of immune cells,  flow and mass cytometry, human PBMC and plasma analysis, etc.  Applicants must have a PhD or MD by the start date, excellent written and oral communication skills and a first authored publication.   Salary is competitive and adjusted commensurate with experience.
