Postdoctoral Fellow

Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine
Brookville, New York, USA

Postdoctoral Fellow Position in CD8 Regulatory T Cells in Multiple Sclerosis.

Dr. Xiaolei Tang’s laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to investigate the role of CD8 regulatory T cells in multiple sclerosis.

The incumbent of this postdoctoral fellow will participate in an industry-sponsored project aiming to develop a novel therapy to stop multiple sclerosis progress by enhancing the function of CD8 regulatory T cells. The fellow will gain experience working in an academic research laboratory while bridging basic research and clinical drug development. The research laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instruments essential for daily research activities, e.g., Cell Culture Biosafety Cabinet, CO2 Incubator, Flow Cytometer, ImmunoSpot Analyzer, Freeze Lyophilizer, Nanoparticle Analyzer, Confocal Microscope, Gas Chromatography among others. You may access the research activities in Dr. Tang’s laboratory by following this link.

The fellow will also participate in research activities at a private startup biotech company.

LIU-CVM (https://liu.edu/Vetmed) is located on LIU Post campus and has an interdisciplinary research program with highly accomplished scientists and board-certified veterinary pathologists. The research program comprises basic, translational, and clinical research with combined cellular, molecular, genetic, and clinical sciences expertise. Research focuses include infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, cancers, and tissue regeneration. The research program aims to improve the understanding of disease pathogeneses and utilize the newly gained knowledge on disease pathogeneses to develop novel therapeutics. Newly renovated research laboratories within the LIU-CVM are equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for the above-mentioned research activities.
