We are seeking talented and inquisitive individuals to join the Ivashkiv lab at HSS/Weill Cornell Medicine to study molecular, cellular and epigenetic mechanisms underlying trained immunity in inflammatory arthritis and persistent Staph. aureus infection. We have identified mechanisms by which interferons prime and train monocytes, macrophages and hematopoietic bone marrow progenitors, and have used single cell analysis to define pathogenic myeloid populations in arthritis and infection models. The projects will utilize single cell and epigenomic analysis coupled with CRISPR-Cas9-mediated gene editing to study regulation of innate immune cells in arthritis and infection and identify pathogenic cell types and pathways that can be therapeutically targeted. Experience with computational biology and analysis of human disease samples is available for interested individuals, but not necessary. Dr. Ivashkiv can be contacted at IvashkivL@hss.edu.
