Postdoctoral Fellowship Positions in Viral Immunology

Emory University School of Medicine
Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Description: We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join the laboratory of Dr. Jacob Kohlmeier in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine. Multiple postdoctoral positions are available. Ongoing projects include investigating the cellular and molecular regulation of T cell memory in the respiratory tract, novel influenza vaccine platforms, and immune protection against natural respiratory virus transmission using both murine models and human samples. The Kohlmeier lab provides a supportive environment for fellows to develop into independent scientific investigators.  Additionally, fellows will be integrated into the strong training programs and robust immunology community across Emory.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Immunology or a related discipline in the Biological Sciences with a track record of peer-reviewed publications. Candidates are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills and be highly organized. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Important Skills:

  • Previous training and research experience in immunology, virology, or cell biology.
  • Ability to work both independently and as an integral member of a team.
  • Willingness to mentor trainees in the scientific method and techniques.
  • Strong background in multi-parameter flow cytometry and familiarity with murine models of infection are preferred.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, and/or RStudio) is preferred.
  • Experience with tissue imaging, molecular biology, RNA- and ATAC-Seq, and/or genetic manipulation of cells and mice are desirable, but not required.

Applications: Please send a cover letter with a short description of research interests, a CV, and contact info for at least two references to Dr. Kohlmeier (jkohlmeier@emory.edu).

Additional information regarding Emory University, the city of Atlanta, and resources for postdoctoral fellows is available on the website of the Emory University Office of Postdoctoral Education.
