Postdoctoral Position in Infectious Diseases and Immunology
Institute for Systems Biology
Seattle, Washington, USA
The Subramanian group is seeking qualified and highly motivated postdoctoral candidates with a keen interest in infectious diseases, host-pathogen interactions, and autoimmunity. Our research spans both mouse and human systems, with a dedicated focus on unraveling the mechanisms of innate immunity and its pivotal role in the interplay between hosts and pathogens as well as in autoimmune conditions. We are currently delving into several key areas of study: 1) Spatiotemporal analyses of inflammasomes, 2) Exploration of Salmonella pathogenesis, 3) Employment of single-cell technologies to dissect bacterial and host cell states, 4) Investigation of type 1 diabetes, 5) Multi-omic studies within human cohorts.
The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research, contributing to the lab’s ongoing themes. Responsibilities include hands-on work in various techniques such as mouse handling, tissue sectioning, immunostaining of tissues, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, cell culture, molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA and RNA extraction, cloning, qPCR, gene editing), protein analysis (e.g., gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting, ELISA), and data analysis. Expertise in high-throughput transcriptional profiling techniques (e.g., RNA-Seq), bioinformatics, and big data analysis is a plus.
The ideal candidate possesses significant experience in immunology, molecular biology, and data analysis, along with a deep knowledge of biology. They will be expected to conduct original research, publish scholarly work, and contribute to a successful research environment. A record of accomplishment in the field of immunology, evidenced by scholarly publications, is required. Candidates should hold a recent or anticipated Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have excellent interpersonal skills conducive to working independently and collaboratively.
The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) offers a scientifically rich, interdisciplinary environment at the interface of immunology and systems biology. We are located in the vibrant South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle, actively engaged with a scientific community that includes the University of Washington, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, and Benaroya Research Institute.
Interested applicants should submit the following materials to Naeha Subramanian at naeha.subramanian@isbscience.org: CV, brief 1-page statement summarizing current interests and experience, and three professional references.
We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, or protected veteran status.
