Research Scientist—Immunology Center of Georgia, Hedrick Lab

The Immunology Center of Georgia in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications for a PhD level Research Scientist (non-tenure track faculty) position. Applicants with expertise in flow cytometry, mass cytometry, spatial imaging are particularly encouraged to apply. The Research Scientist will be expected to conduct collaborative cutting-edge research in the fields of immunology, inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular disease as it relates to mass cytometry and high dimensional flow cytometry. This individual will manage the Core CyTOF mass cytometer, and assist faculty and postdoctoral fellows in related experimental design and data acquisition. The candidate will provide new methods related to mass cytometry for the Core.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in collaborative projects related to mass cytometry and flow cytometry.
  • Assist with design of cytometry experiments.
  • Assist with sample staining and data acquisition.
  • Train and supervise users as needed.
  • Maintain the CyTOF XT instrument daily/weekly/monthly and coordinate annual instrument service.
  • Maintain all user logs and assist with instrument iLab site to facilitate scheduling and billing of instrument and reagent use.
  • Assist with biosafety compliance.
  • Assist with general lab maintenance including inventory and supply ordering.
  • Attend regional/national meetings/webinars for continuing education on emerging flow cytometry knowledge and technology.
  • Other duties as assigned.
